OK, I haven't used this blog in a while, so I thought I'd do a side by side comparison of 2 similar but different conversion pieces for the old AMT/Ertl Refit Enterprise. This was brought up in a thread on Starship Modeler on whether or not there was a piece like this for the AMT kit.
Here's the TM piece installed in the Enterprise saucer:
The two pieces are saucer mounted deflector arrays by Thomas Models and VA Miniatures. The Thomas Models piece is out of production (but may be re-released by PNT Models). The VA Miniatures piece was recently released earlier this year.

Overall, I like the look of the old Thomas Models piece better, but the VA Miniatures piece is also very good. The casting is pristine and Victor's customer service is top notch.
