2 Fat Guys Clone Battleship

I just got a new kit from 2 Fat Guys. It is the Clone Battleship aka Acclamator class Assault Ship from Star Wars Episode II and the new Clone Wars animated film.

I liked this ship from the first time I saw it in Episode II. As a predecessor to the Imperial Star Destroyer from the original Star Wars movies, it works a lot better then the Venator class Star Destroyer introduced in Episode III. Don't get me wrong, the Venator is a great looking ship, but it looks more like a "next gen" ship rather than an ancestor.

This resin model kit from 2 Fat Guys is really nice. The kit comes in a nice sturdy box filled with packing peanuts...and bubble wrap! The kit parts are nice and protected. The parts consist of the upper and lower hull halves:

And many smaller detail parts separted into little zip loc baggies:

And a nice set of instructions:

The casting is really good. Very few bubbles or holes to fill. The detail is really good too.

One area of concern is the thinness of the lower hull half. I looks like this piece will warp very easily.

The kit is made to be in scale with the Revell Republic Star Destroyer kit. Here's a pic of the upper hull halves for the two kits. The 2FG kit on the left in green resin, and the Revell RSD on the right in gray plastic.

Overall I'm very pleased with the kit. I had been wanting a kit of this ship since I saw it in the movie, and to have it in scale with the other kit of a Clone Wars warship is a great bonus! The detail is sharp and impressive. I would recommend one to anybody else who liked this ship. You can order it from 2 Fat Guys website: http://2fatguysmodels.com/
